Boat Description: |
We have always raced a
Chev 454 with a stock 4" crank that is crack
free and unground after 15 years! The cylinder heads
have changed over the years and recently we have
added Pro Topline aluminum ones to our program. Our
team has had smaller Holley carbs at one time or
another but have found that contrary to a popular
racer saying, 'bigger is not always better', in our case
we found that it was. We
have been lucky enough to never suffer major engine
damage because our crew chief strongly believes to
keep the RPM down, thusly the 29 gears to keep it at
a livable 7150 RPM. Another little component we like
is the use of steel rods, too many times engines
fail with light aluminum rods, we love our Manleys.

What got me interested
in drag boat racing: |
After a few summers
skiing on our local lake, my body was resenting
skidding along the water all the time and just
booting around the lake with a hi performance
flatbottom ski boat started to get more appealing.
One race two hours away from Courtenay set the hook.
I purchased the race boat we have to this day in
1992 and we love her!
